Canada's new housing minister, Gregor Robertson, said that the solution to Canada's housing crisis is not to reduce house prices, but to increase housing construction. He was responding to a reporter's question about whether house prices should be reduced. The minister said that the market should be stabilized by increasing house construction.

Robertson said that as housing minister, he will focus on increasing the supply of affordable homes in Canada. Conservative leader Pierre Poilivre had come out to blame Robertson for the high cost of housing in Vancouver. When Robertson was mayor of Vancouver, house prices skyrocketed. Therefore, Prime Minister Mark Carney was also questioned about whether it was the right decision to hand over the housing department to Robertson. However, Carney's response was that Robertson is a person with experience to handle the current situation. Robertson said that Vancouver's housing prices nearly doubled between 2008 and 2018, when he was mayor. But Robertson responded by saying that other cities had seen price increases during the same period. "My term as mayor was during a time of economic challenges. But I overcame those challenges by building affordable housing and strengthening the city's economy," Robertson wrote in the article.
